Invisalign Invisible Braces

Invisalign clear aligners: A discreet alternative to braces

Straight teeth are one of the hallmarks of a great smile. If you have always wanted to fix your crooked teeth or bite problem but have been hesitant to undergo treatment with unsightly and uncomfortable metal braces, you are not alone. Millions of people worldwide have taken advantage of the discreet alternative to braces: Invisalign® clear aligners. At Edward J Camacho DDS & Confidence Builder Cosmetic Dentistry of San Antonio, Dr. Edward Camacho offers this revolutionary treatment option to patients so they can achieve the beautiful smiles they deserve.

How Invisalign differs from metal braces

Metal braces and Invisalign clear aligners both straighten your teeth and fix bite issues such as overbites or underbites. But they use very different methods for achieving these goals. Metal braces use a set of brackets and wires that place a uniform amount of force on all of the teeth at once. While this effectively treats misalignment, it causes significant discomfort each time the braces are adjusted, and the metal braces are very visible within your smile. Additionally, because metal brackets are prone to popping off, many types of crunchy, sticky, or chewy foods are off-limits for the duration of wearing braces. Invisalign was designed to address all of these issues while remaining just as effective at properly aligning your teeth and jaw.

  • Comfort: Invisalign uses a proprietary BPA-free plastic that is designed for comfort, and there are no metal brackets or wires to poke your mouth and create irritation. Additionally, each set of Invisalign trays shift only one or a few teeth at a time rather than placing force on all of your teeth at once, making it a less painful experience.
  • Aesthetics: Braces are immediately noticeable when you are smiling and talking, but with Invisalign, others may not ever even notice that you are undergoing orthodontic treatment!
  • Convenience: Invisalign aligners are completely removable, which means you can take them out to enjoy all of your favorite foods without restrictions, and you don’t need to try to work around wires when you are brushing and flossing your teeth. Even better, because the aligners are removable, you can see your amazing progress throughout the course of your treatment rather than having to wait until braces are removed to see your results.
  • Versatility: Invisalign can achieve the same great results as braces in the majority of cases. While there are some issues that require traditional orthodontic treatment, Invisalign is a terrific option for most patients who have issues such as gaps, crooked teeth, crowding, overbite, crossbite, or underbite.
